Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "J. M. Hickerson, Strasburg, VA."
James M. Hickerson ran his pottery in Strasburg, Virginia from 1884-1898 (H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pp. 298-301).
This beauty features a Larger Size, Tooled Rim with Groove to Facilitate Tying a Cover Over the Top, and a Brushed Cobalt Floral Dangling From the Shoulder Framed by Comma Vining on Each Side. Stands 13" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two narrow 1/4" flakes on the outside of the rim, and two 1/2" chips on the bottom edge. That's it! No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
