Item 13093
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 4 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "D. Brannon, San Antonio." [town name is partial]
This is the mark of Daniel Brannan who made stoneware in San Antonio, Alameda County, California from 1856-1884. The town no longer exists (John O'Neill, Early California Stoneware, pp. 14-39).
Circa 1870, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Gorgeous Multi-Colored Glaze in Various Shades of Brown. None of the examples of Brannon's stoneware O'Neill's book have this glaze. Stands 14 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Size small chips on the inner lid-seating ring (1/2" to 1/4"), and two 1/2" chips outside the rim. That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Some stone pings in the making.
