Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped "Geddes, N.Y."
This crock was made in Geddes (Syracuse area) probably by Charles Hubbell and Dennison Chesebro (1867-87) (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 70).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Capacity Number "2", and a Folk Art Bird on a Branch Decoration. The bird sports a long beak, a body with broad stripe, and seven tail feathers. The branch has three dotted leaves. Bright and Dark Cobalt too! Stands 14" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip inside the spout, a flat 1/2" chip on top of the spout on the right side, and a 1/2" chip on the right side. Typical manufacturing imperfections.
