Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "John Burger, Rochester."

 

This is the mark of John Burger who founded the family's pottery under this stamp and ran it from 1854-1867 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 74).

 

This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Freehand Capacity Number "3", and a Large Open Daisy Decoration Executed with a Slip Cup in Strong Cobalt.  Intricate and exceptionally nice artwork!  Five striped leaves and three buds support a full blossom with 13 striped petals and dotted center.  Measures 10 1/4" tall and 10 3/4" wide across the top.  

 

Excellent Condition.  Some light staining on the lower half.  That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
