Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Cute Little Cream Pot whose distinctive decoration indicates that it was made by the Smith's of Norwalk, Connecticut.
Asa Smith and his sons, Theodore and Asa, made stoneware in Norwalk from 1849 to the early 1860's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 58-60).
This beauty features the Ovoid Form, Squared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, Applied Handles, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip with Four Leaves and a Blossom with Eight Petals. Measures 8 1/4" tall and 7 1/4" wide across the top.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind. A stone ping to the right of the decoration in the making.
