Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Ovoid Cream Pot made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."
This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the company with this stamp from 1863-1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58).
This beauty features the Cream Pot Form, Broad Rim, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Chrysanthemum with 6 Leaves and a Blossom with 9 petals. Measures 10 1/4" tall and 9 1/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Two 1/8" nips and a 1" chip on the rim, and two nips on the left handle. That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Some loss to the cobalt in the making.
