Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."

 

This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania using this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58).

 

Thus beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Cobalt Garland of 5 Leaves with Interior Veining.  Bright and shiny cobalt on a light gray glaze.   Stands 11 1/2" tall. 

 

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.
