Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made in and stamped "Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp, a Freehand "2" Capacity Number, and a Tulip Decoration Created with a Slip Cup. The tulip sports two striped leaves and a blossom with three striped petals.
Very Good Condition. Some staining around the middle and a 1" chip on the bottom edge. No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A few contact marks and bubbles in the cobalt in the making.
