Item 12620
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "Whites, Utica."
This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles who ran the Whites of Utica family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Fantail Bird Poised on a Branch. The bird is looking backward and executed with bright and shiny cobalt. One of the better examples of this signature decoration that you will see. Measures 10 1/4" tall and 11" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Four chips outside the rim (1/4" to 1/2"), a 1/2" chip on the back of the left handle, and three isolated glaze flakes on the back toward the bottom. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
