Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made in and stamped "Cortland."

This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).

This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Whimsical Double Tulip Created with a Slip Cup and Brush.  The decoration has a double bulb from each of which a blossom and frilly leaf emerges off to each side.  A fancy flourish below.  The symmetrical decoration fills the front very nicely.  Strong cobalt too!  Stands 12 3/8" tall.

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.
