Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Connolly & Palmer, New Brunswick, N.J."
This is the work of Thomas Connolly and Charles Palmer who ran the pottery in New Brunswick from 1881-1888 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 80).
This beauty features a Large Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Bird on a Plume Decoration. The bird is 8" from beak to tip of his tail, and the plume is 12". Stands 17 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A large ping on the back visible inside except the center, five 1/4" chips on the underside at the edge with one 1" also, a hairline across the bottom, and some scattered light staining. No spout chips or restoration. Surface firing lines on the spout, shoulder, and near the base in the making as shown.
