    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made for the merchants, "Comstock Bros., Wholesale Druggists & Grocers, Utica, N.Y."

     

    The jug was made and stamped by "N. A. White & Son, Utica, N.Y." This is the mark of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).

     

    This beauty features athe Pottery Stamp and Four Lines of Large Block Letter Advertising.  Stands 10 1/2" tall.  

     

    Very Good Condition.  Three 1/8" nibbles on the left side of the spout and a 3 1/2" vertical hairline on the back that wraps under 1 1/2".  No base chips, stains, or restoration.  A slightly tilted spout, a 1/4" clay flip on the handle, and a couple short 1 -1 1/2" vertical firing lines on the bottom of the right side--all in the making.
