Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar with Original Paper Label Reading, "Colonial Brand Mince Meat. Prepared from Dried Fruits, Cane Sugar, Refiner's Syrup, Beef Suet, Lemon and Orange Peel, Citron, Boiled Cider, Distilled Vinegar, Salt, Mixed Spices, Rum, and Brandy. In Making Pies a Light Bake is Recommended to Better Retain the Flavor of the Mince Meat. Distributed by The Borden Sales Co., Inc., The Borden Company, New York, New York."
As the lid indicates, the jar was made in the early 20th century by "The Western Stoneware Co., Monmouth, Illinois" (Jim Martin and Bette Cooper, Monmouth-Western Stoneware, p. 21).
This beauty features the Original Paper Label in Strong Color and Center Picture of a Lady Taking a Pie out of the Oven. Stands 8 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. The jar has two adjoining 1/2" narrow chips inside the rim and a minor nibble outside. Otherwise, as made. The lid is as made. Some touchup to the label around the left, right and bottom edges.
