Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Unusual 4" Spice Jar with Lid.
 
Dating around 1880, this beauty features a Small 4" size, "Nutmeg" in Sgraffito, and the Original Petite Lid.
 
This jar is so reminiscent of the Bennington, Vermont sgraffito mini jugs that I strongly suspect that is where this spice jar was made.
 
Excellent Condition.  The jar has two pinhead-size nibbles on the rim.  The lid has two chips on the edge of the knob (1/4", 3/8"), and a 1/4" chip and minor nibbles on the top edge (closeup). No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration on either piece.
