Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 2 Gallon Ovoid Jar with incised Florals.

The shape and decoration indicate that this piece was made by the Crolius family of Manhattan, New York circa 1790.

This beauty features an Ovoid Shape, Tooled Rim and Shoulder, Applied Loop Handles, Footer, and Elaborate Incised Florals with Rich Cobalt Fill on Each Side.  Stands 12" tall.

Condition: Some water glass staining inside and a few stain runs on one side from use.  1" chip at the rim above the remaining handle, one lost handle, a 3 1/2" vertical line at the base not seen inside (closeup), a 1/2" filled surface-only chip below one flower, and two filled chips (1", 1 1/2") on the underside at the edge (2 and 10 o'clock).   No inner rim chips, through hairlines or cracks, or restoration.

Despite the distractions, I can find two very comparable pieces in the online records.  In wonderful condition they brought over $9,000.  This one is well worth restoration.  I have tried to price it accordingly.
