Item 2155
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Early 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug stamped "Charlestown."
This is the stamp of Frederick Carpenter who ran the pottery in Charlestown, Massachusetts for Barnabas Edmands from 1812-1827 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 49).
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, a Clear "Charlestown" Stamp, Three Impressed Hearts, and Ochre Dip on the Bottom. The cleanest Charlestown jug I have seen in a very long time. Stands 15 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A half-dozen minor chips on the base (1/4" or less), and a few scattered spots of light staining. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. The chip on the spout is in the making and glazed over.
