Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Early 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "C. Boynton & Co., Troy."
This is the work of Calvin Boynton who ran a pottery in Troy from 1829-1835 (See William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 66).
This beauty sports an Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip. The tulip has five leaves and a blossom with three petals. Bright and dark cobalt. Stands 15" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some small chips around the spout as shown. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A 1/4" stone ping on the stem of the flower in the making.
