Item 7199
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "C. W. Braun, Buffalo, N.Y."
This is the mark of Charles W. Braun who ran the old Heiser pottery in Buffalo from 1857-1896 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 75).
Dating around 1870, this beauty features a Great Small Size, Strong Potter's Stamp, and a Large Folk Art Flower executed with a Slip Cup. The flower has 5 leaves and 6 petals. The artist had this decoration simplified so the he or she could draw it with just three pours of the cup! Measures 8 3/4" tall and 9 3/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Very minor 1/4" flake on top of the rim, a 1/2" chip inside the rim, and a small stain on the back. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
