Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Cute 1 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "C. Hart, Sherburne."

 

This is the stamp of Charles Hart who potted in Sherburne, N.Y. under this stamp from 1858-1866 before he added his son, Nahum to the business (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).

 

This beauty features a Small Size, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Dotted Daisy Blossom and a Garland. The blossom and garland are executed in shiny and bright cobalt using a slip cup.  Measures 9" tall and 6 1/4" wide across the top. 

 

Exceptional Condition.  As made. No damage of any kind.  Two stone pings in the making.
