Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Uncommon Peaches Fruit jar made and stamped by "C. Crolius, Manufacturer, Manhattan-Wells, New York."
This is the impression of Clarkson Crolius who ran his pottery in Manhattan from 1800 to 1838 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 62).
Circa 1820, this beauty features a Small 6 1/2" Size, Tooled Rim with Groove for Ease of Tying a Cover Over the Top, Pottery Stamp, and "Peaches" Stamped on the Side. Stands 6 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1" hairline from the rim (closeup). Otherwise, no rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
