Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous Blue and White Spongeware Pither in the Old Fashioned Garden Rose Pattern.
This beauty is featured in Taylor and Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, pp. 63-64.
Dating to the early 20th century, this beauty bears an Embossed Single-Stemmed Rose on Each Side. The sponging is applied in dark and glossy cobalt in the chainlink pattern. Strong and presice sponging in deep cobalt-- just like we like it! Stands 9" tall.
Excellent Condition. A pinhead-size nibble and a 1/4" flake inside the rim (closeup). That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
