Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jar made in and stamped "Albany." 
 
This simple stamp is that of Eleazer Orcutt and his sons, Charles and Edwin of Albany.  Eleazer founded the pottery in 1853 and it remained in the family until 1862 (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, 2nd ed., pp 163-64). 
 
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Spectacular Floral Decoration.  The floral consists of a leafy stem with a bottom circular bud and a top blossom with dotted center and four curcular petals with leaves between each petal.  It is executed with a slip cup in brilliant cobalt and extreme precision. Stands 14 1/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  Three small chips inside the rim (1/4" to 1/2"), a 1/4" chip outside the rim in the back, and some scattered small stains from use.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Small bubbles in the cobalt in the making.
