Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Bowl made by "A. Conrad, New Geneva, Fayette Co., PA."
Alexander Conrad ran the pottery in New Geneva from 1870-1882 before moving to Shinnston, WV (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 164-65).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Thick Tooled Rim, Canted Sides, Applied Handles, and the Company Advertising in Four Lines framed by Floral and Fauna Flourishes on the Front. The florals include two blossoms in the middle and the fauna includes two sheaves of wheat at the bottom.. The stencil is complete and cobalt nicely contrasted to the light gray glaze. Measures 7 3/4" tall and 10" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Some overall light staining. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, so restoration.
