    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped for the merchant, "A. B. Wheeler & Co., 69 Broad Street, Boston, Mass."  


    Wheeler was a major grocer in the Boston area in the late 19th century. 


    Circa 1880, this beauty features the Company Advertising Crisply Impress and Washed with Cobalt Wash on the Shoulder and a Bright Cobalt Freehand Swirl Cascading Down the Front.  Stands 11 1/2" tall.


    Excellent Condition.  A 1/2" chip inside the spout, two 3/8" chips on the right side of the spout, and some small and light stains.  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  A 1 1/2" surface drying line on the front bottom as part of the kiln mark in the making (closeup).
