Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 6 Gallon Stoneware Crock from Ohio.

It has been attributed to the Schrop Pottery of Springfield Township, Ohio (see F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, pp. 80-82).

Dating around 1880, this beauty features a Freehand Capacity Number Framed by Squiggles and an Elaborate Fishing Lure Decoration.  Although it may be an unusual flower, it is commonly known as a fishing lure.  Bold cobalt on a warm gray salt glaze.   Measures 13 1/2" tall and 12" wide across the top.

Excellent Condition.  A 3/4" shallow chip on the left handle, a 5" surface-only glaze line near the tail of the lure (closeup), and some water glass staining inside from use.  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
