Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderfu 2 Gallon Decorated Jug stamped "Cortland."
The decoration indicates that this is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Tall Stem Rising from a Bulb with Two Buds and Two Tulip Blossoms. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. Four small chips on the spout (1/8" to 3/8"), a chip on the base (1/4"), and some scattered light staining from use. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
