Item 6218
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA.
Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 8-10).
Circa 1840, this beauty features a Tall and Narrow Form, Tooled and Squared Rim, and a Freehand Garland Flowers and Leaves All the Way Around. This is a very pleasing and identifiable Remmey decoration. Bold and expressive cobalt throughout the design on a light gray clay for maximum contrast. Stands 14" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" flake on the rim. That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Small kiln touch on one side in the making.
