Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Large 2 Gallon Cake Crock with Lots of Decoration.

The flower with the circle between the stem and leaves makes a probable attribution to Mauldine Perine or his former associate, William Linton of Baltimore, Maryland.  Perine and sons worked in stoneware from approximately 1827 to after 1900 and Linton made stoneware from 1845 to 1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 98). The lid is from the Remmey pottery of Philadelphia from the same period.

This beauty is a Large 2 Gallon with Squared Rim, Applied Handles and a Cartouche with Dangling Leaves framing a Center Upside-down Tulip.  The cartouche is repeated twice on each side. Bright brushed cobalt throughout the decoration.   The lid sports 5 similar brushed cobalt leaves around the edge.  The base measures 6 1/2" tall and 12" in diameter.  The lid is 13" in diameter.

The base is in Good Condition. A 1/2" chip on the outside of the rim. A sealed Y-shaped hairline on the bottom with the upper two lines going 1" and 2 1/2" up the side (closeup) and the tail going 1" up the side.  No inner rim or base chips or stains.  Rings like a bell when tapped.  The lid has traces of waterglass staining.  Otherwise as made.
