Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar whose decoration indicates that it was made by Peter Hermann.
Peter Hermann made pottery on Eager Street in Baltimore, Maryland from 1850-1872 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 98).
This beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim designed to allow a wax covered paper or cloth to be tied securely around the top, and a Double Floral on Each Side Executed in Strong Cobalt. Stands 10" tall.
Very Good Condition. A couple faint surface-only lines at the rim (1/2", 1") and some staining from use. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A couple flat flakes on top of the rim in the making.
