Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this impressive 3 Gallon Decorated Jug made and Stamped by "Whites, Utica, N.Y." 
 
This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles who ran the Whites of Utica family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71). 
 
This beauty features a Large Size, Pottery Stamp, and a Huge Orchid with Four Leaves and a Blossom with Three Petals.  The orchid is 9" from tall and 11" wide!! Gorgeous cobalt blue throughout. A combination of slip cup and brush work was used to make the decoration. Stands 16 1/2" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  A couple pings on the front and a couple nibbles on the side of the spout (closeup), a 3/8" chip at the base, and some small losses to the cobalt.   No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A recess on the center of the left side in the making.
