Item 11628
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites, Utica."
This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the Whites of Utica, N.Y. family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Huge Running Bird with Fantail Poised on a Branch. The bird is executed with bright and shiny cobalt. Stands 13 3/4" tall.
Very Good Visual Condition with Restoration. Some staining from use in the back. The spout and below the spout in the front to the pottery stamp have been professsionally restored, as as a dime-sized spot on the bird where the feathers begin to fan out. All well done. Salt drips on the left side in the making.
