Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Stoneware 4 Quart Batter Jug whose decoration indicates that it was made by N. A. White & Co., Utica, N.Y." 
 
Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery in Utica, N.Y. from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71).
 
This beauty features a Pine Tree Created by a Single Pour of a Slip Cup which was one of Whites signature decorations.  Retains an old bail handle.  Stands 9 3/4" tall.
 
Good Condition.  Some small chips:  on the rim (1/4", 1/2"), four 1/2" chips on the bottom rolled edge of the rim), a 3/8" chip on the right handle holder, a 1/4" chip on the spout, and a 1/2" chip on the base edge.  Two faint 1" hairlines from the rim in the front (closeup- on each side of my pen).  No inner rim chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
