Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."
 
This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
 
This beauty features the Oval Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand "2" Capacity Number, and a Cobalt Floral with Four Leaves and a Blossom with Six Petals and Fancy Center Stamen.  All the part of the floral are accented with short lines and the endure design is created using a slip cup and brilliant cobalt blue.  Stands 13 1/2" tall.
 
Excellent Condition. A pinhead-size nibble on the spout and two 1/8" nibbles on the base.  That's it!  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
