Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Huge 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "I. Seymour, Troy."
This is the work of the pottery of Israel Seymour in Troy, New York. He worked from at least 1816 to 1852. This mark was used between 1830 and 1852 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 66).
This beauty sports a Larger Size, Extreme Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip. Stands 15 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1" wide chip on the top of the spout, a narrow 1/4" chip on top of the handle, and some staining from use. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
