Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped for the merchant, "A. B. Wheeler & Co., No. 69 Broad Street, Boston, Mass."  

 

Wheeler was a major grocer in the Boston area in the late 19th century and was located on 69 Broad Street.

 

The decoration indicates that the jar was made by the West Troy Pottery owned by William Warner of West Troy, New York (now Watervliet) from 1843 to 1871.

 

This beauty features the Company Advertising on the Shoulder and Washed in Cobalt, and a Bright and Bold "2" Capacity Number Encased in a Large and Fancy "2" Capacity Number!  Bold Cobalt too!  Stands 13 3/4" tall.

 

Excellent Condition.  Light staining on the shoulder. That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
