Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Lidded Jar made for the merchant, "J. & I. F. Trippe, 90 & 92 Maiden Lane, New York."
 
The shape of the jar and its lid indicates that Trippe was a grocer or pharmicist.
 
Dating around 1850, this beauty features the Cheesecloth Ripples from the Making, Three Lines of Impressed Advertising, and an Original Lid.  Stands 8" tall.  
 
Excellent Condition.  Very minor pinhead-size nibbles on the seating rim inside and a 1/8" chips along the underside edge.  No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  The lid has a 3/8" chip on the knob and some small chips along the outer edge.
