Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "T. Harrington, Lyons."

This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).

This beauty sports the Freehand "2" Capacity Number, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip.  The tulip sports six base leaves and a blossom with eight petals.  Bright and shiny cobalt as was typical of Lyons stoneware.  Exceptional contrast.  Stands 13 1/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Two shallow chips inside the spout (1/4", 1/2"), and a 1" circular surface ping on the front bottom.  That's it!  No outer spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains,  or restoration.
