Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Shapely 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Swaine." 

 

This is the work of Robert and Thomas Swaine of Sutton Heath Pottery, Prescot, Lancashire, England. They worked approximately from 1825 to 1843. 

 

Some of their larger jugs like this one were used in trans-Atlantic trade and came to the States prior to the Civil War. 

 

This beauty features a Rounded Shoulder, Tapered Sides, Pottery Stamp on the Shoulder, and Brown Glaze.  Stands 16" tall.

 

Excellent Condition.  Glaze wear and minor nibbles and 1/2" chip at the base.  That's it!  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
