Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Superb 1 Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock made by "T. F. Reppert, Successor to Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, PA."
This is the work of Thomas Reppert who worked in Greensboro solo from 1884-1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp 157-58).
This beauty features a Deeply Grooved Rim for Ease of Tying a Waxed Paper or Cloth Over the Top, and Four Lines of Stenciled Advertising with Interspersed Geometric Designs. Crisp and complete stenciling with dark and shiny cobalt. Superb color with light gray supporting dark decoration. Measures 6 1/2" tall and 8 1/2" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip inside the rim. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Exceptionally clean.
