Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 1 Gallon Snuff Jar made for "Sweetser Brothers, Byfield, Mass."  
 
Circa 1880, this beauty features the Snuff Jar Form, and the Company Advertising Stenciled on the Front Surrounding an Eagle Holding a Shield.  This particular eagle appears to have been decapitated!  Stands 11" tall.  
 
Good Condition.  Even wear and chippage round the inner ledge where the lid sat and inside the rim, a 1" hairline at the rim that trails off as a glaze-only line (closeup),  small chips around the base edge, and exfoliation on the underside.
