Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Salt Glaze Churn made and stamped "Charlestown."
This is the work of Edward and Thomas Edmands who ran the pottery in Charlestown, Massachusetts from 1852-1868 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 49).
This beauty features an Uncommon Churn Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Cobalt Flower with Large Blossom and Swirly Leaves created with a Slip Cup. Stands 15 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Minor nibbles around the inner rim where a lid would sit, two chips inside the top rim (3/8", 5/8"), a 3/4" chip under the right handle, and minor nibbles and two chips on the base (3/4", 1"). That's it! No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
