Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Salt Glaze Jug made and stamped "Charlestown."
This is the work of Edward and Thomas Edmands who ran the pottery in Charlestown, Massachusetts from 1852-1868 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 49).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Cobalt Flower with Large Blossom and Two Leaves. The blossom has 7 petals and the leaves have 3 sections each. Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A pinhead-size flake on top of the spout, a 1/4" chip on the back of the spout, and two flat chips on the underside (1/4", 3/8"). That's it! No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
