    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped for the merchant, "Patrick Kelley, Globe Village, Mass."   

     

    This jug was made by Frank Norton and Frederick Hancock who made stoneware in Worcester from 1856-1868 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 52-53).  

     

    As you know, stamped merchant jugs by Norton are not common.

     

    This beauty features the Merchant Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Stylized Floral in Bright Cobalt Blue which is a Norton trademark design.  Stands 11 1/4" tall. 

     

    Excellent Condition.  A 3/8" chip on the left side of the spout, and a couple 1/8" nibbles at the base.  That's it!  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A small stone ping in the merchant stamp in the making.
