Item 2020
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.
This jar is easily attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Finely Tooled Rim and Shoulder, and Three Large and Drooping Florals around the Middle. Each flower has 8 leaves and a large blossom dangling off the top. Gorgeous cobalt too! Stands 10" tall.
Very Good Condition. Five small chips inside (1/8" to 3/8"), a flat 7/8" chip on top, and two chips outside the rim (1/4", 1/2"). Two places where excess clay in the making have come off-- one in a leaf and one near the bottom. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
