    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA.

     

    Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 8-10).

     

    Circa 1840, this beauty features an Rolled Rim with a Garland of Four Leaves with Double Floral Buds Between Each.   This is a very pleasing and identifiable Remmey decoration.   Strong cobalt throughout the design.  Stands 10 1/2" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  A 3/16" chip on one leaf, and a 3/4" chip and minor nibbles around the footer (closeup).   No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
