    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA.

     

    Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).

     

    Circa 1830, this beauty features an Rolled Rim, Incised Shoulder Bands and a Broad Roped Stripe on Each Side.   This is a very pleasing and identifiable Remmey decoration.   Strong cobalt throughout the design.  Stands 10 1/2" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  Some spot of light staining from use.  That's it!   No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, restoration.
