Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.

This jar is easily attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1860, this beauty features a Finely Tooled Rim, Squatty and Wide Form, Two Large Brushed Cobalt Sideways Tulips on Each Side, and Cobalt Loops on the Handle.  Stands 8 3/4" tall.

Very Good Condition.  A shallow 1/2" chip on the rim by one handle, a minor 1/4" scrape on one handle terminal, and a 1" chip on the footer.  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.   A 1/2" chip on the top of the rim is in the making and glazed over.
