Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Decorated Ovoid Jar.

This jar is easily attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1860, this beauty features an Ovoid Form, Tall Rim, Pronounced Footer, and Three Brushed Cobalt Tulips Around the Middle.  The cobalt is rich and shiny on a super clean light gray background clay.   Stands 8 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Two minor pinhead-size nibbles inside the rim, and a 7/8" chip on the footer.   That's it!  No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Slightly out-of-round on the top in the making.

    It is a cutie!
