Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Decorated Ovoid Jar.
The form and decoration makes it easy to attribute this jar to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Dating to the 1860's, this beauty features a very desirable Ovoid Form with Tall Neck and Tooled Footer, and a Three Flowers all Around. Bold and bright cobalt throughout! Stands 8 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Three small chips outside the rim (1/8" to 1/4"). That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A chip on the rim and two on the footer are in the making and glazed over.
