Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful decorated 1 Gallon Jar attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Dating about 1850, this beauty features a Rounded Rim, Tooled Shoulder, and Three Brushed Cobalt Florals around the Middle. The flowers have 5 to 8 leaves and a blossom with three petals. All the cobalt is thick, rich and dark and set against a medium gray glaze to make a very pleasant contrast. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Modest glaze wear from use. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
